Who Is My Brother?
Posted on May 2, 2009 at 3:00 pm by Andy Sochor
What Makes Us Brethren?
- By faith we have been baptized into Christ (Acts 2:37-38; Galatians 3:26-29; 1 Corinthians 12:13)
- What if one does this but joins an institutional church or a denomination? Still a brother
- What if one doesn’t do this, but is religious and claims belief in God/Jesus? Not a brother
Be Mindful of These Types of Brethren:
- Weak brethren (1 Thessalonians 5:14)
- Erring brethren (2 Thessalonians 3:6,14-15)
- False brethren (Galatians 2:3-4)
Responsibilities as Brethren
- Love one another (1 John 3:23; John 13:34-35)
- Encourage one another (Hebrews 10:24-25; 1 Thessalonians 5:11)
- Do good for one another (Galatians 6:10; Hebrews 13:16)
