Edification
- What is it? – Building up and strengthening Christians in the faith
- By individuals – Hebrews 3:12-13; 2 Peter 1:12-13
- By the local church – Hebrews 10:24-25; Ephesians 4:11-16
- Perverting the NT work – Defining edification as a feeling or mere association
Benevolence
- What is it? – Providing help to those who are in need
- By individuals – Galatians 6:10; Ephesians 4:28; James 1:27
- By the local church – Acts 4:32-35; 11:29-30; 1 Timothy 5:16
- Perverting the NT work – Building church buildings for poorer Christians
