Text: Matthew 5:3-12
Blessed are the poor in spirit (v. 3) – humility
Blessed are those who mourn (v. 4) – sorrow for sin
Blessed are the meek (v. 5) – patient endurance
Blessed are those who hunger & thirst for righteousness (v. 6) – right by God’s standard
Blessed are the merciful (v. 7) – forgiving, helping, teaching others
Blessed are the pure in heart (v. 8) – our heart must be right
Blessed are the peacemakers (v. 9) – work to bring peace with God & among men
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake (v. 10-12) – for being a follower of Christ
