The Source of Authority

If we do not have the proper source of authority, it leads to:
- Disobedience – Colossians 3:17
- Division – 1 Corinthians 1:10-13
- Apostasy
Throughout “church history,” apostasy has come from people not following the proper source of authority.
Catholicism – 3 sources of authority
- Word of God
- Decrees of the pope
- Church tradition
Protestantism – 3 sources of authority
- Word of God
- Creeds of men
- Traditions of men
True Disciples of Christ – 1 source of authority
- Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18), revealed in His word (John 16:13)
